Wikipedia Takes Pune:Event



 

Wikipedia Takes Pune is a photo hunt for free content photography in Pune. Inspired by the global event "Wikipedia Takes the City", this event aims at collecting photographs of every nuance of the city Pune. These pictures would be used later for illustration purpose of the Wikipedia articles dealing with Pune city. Thus, through this event we are trying to promote and spread awareness of our city globally. 

All the Puneris out there register for this event before it closes. Show your love and patriotism for Pune. No special knowledge is required for this, but a camera and your love for the city. 

Date: 7th October 2012, Sunday 
 
Venue: PAI International Learning Solutions, Hotel Management Building Azam Campus, Gate no.2, Near Poona College, Camp, Pune.
Time: 10am
Registration closes on: 4th October 2012 at 23:59pm.

Certificate of Participation will be given to all the participants.

Dos and Don'ts for the photo-walk.

Do's:

  •   Participants have to create an account by using the link below:

  •   The participants are to click 5 photographs for each spot lying under each category, (there are a total of 10 categories) before coming for the event. The pictures have to brought with on a pen drive or hard disk. 
  
The 10 categories are – 

Religion Places of Pune: Mandir,Masjid,Gurudwara etc.

Festivals of Pune: Ganpati, Ramjam Eid , Christmas etc.

Lifestyle of Pune: Mandi, Fish Market, Public Transport Bus photos, Street-hawkers etc.

Species from Pune: Biological species, birds , snakes , insects etc.

Food of Pune: Misal Pav, Puran Poli , Pav Bhaji etc.

Nature of Pune: Parvati Scenery, Pictures of nature etc.

Places: J.M.Road, Camp, Company Buildings, Oldest Hotels etc.

Biographical Pictures:
Famous personalities living in Pune like Nana Patekar, Amol Palekar etc.

Historical Pictures: Museums, old libraries etc.

Monuments: Monuments certified by "Archaeological Survey of India".

  •   Use one memory card per team. Make sure the memory card is empty before you start taking the photographs.

Don'ts

  •  It has to be kept in mind that the photographs will be used for Wikipedia purpose.Thus, personal photographs are not to be included.

  •  No editing is to be done on the photographs other than minor colour corrections.

  •   No watermark should be there on the photographs.

  •   In order to maintain a high level of decency, do not photograph people.

  • Do not go into people's houses to click photographs. All photos should be of buildings/ statues/ landmarks of Pune.

  •   Do not click photographs where it is strictly prohibited.
  • The creative Commons is a license which provides a flexible range of protections and freedoms for authors, artists, and educators. Therefore, when Wikipedia uploads your photographs it allows people to use your photographs clicked by you. You cannot claim it as your photograph later and stop other people from using it. Proper recognition will be given on the page.
There aren’t any camera specifications, But the pictures shouldn’t be blurred and should be of a good quality.

LASTLY, FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN'T PARTICIPATING ON THE MAIN EVENT, THEY HAVE TO SUBMIT 20 PICTURES FOR EACH CATEGORY
